Early Work

Made over 25 years ago, this is a collection of some of my early painting exhibitions, exhibited at a Steiner School and City Java in Deep Ellum.

We all get started somewhere, most of this I did untrained right as high school was ending. I think this now has esssentially all the work from my archives. Spray paint cans were still available in Berkeley when we first moved from Chicago. I never actually did any graffiti on buildings but I practiced on cardboard. Enough to get a sense of the materials, pretty amazing stuff but very toxic. If you do decide to use these things, research and use the right safety gear, get clearance where to practice and do it safely. It’s a complicated medium, it takes a lot of time to master. I never even approached that, but including it here at the end of the archive.

City Java

City Java was a grunge era coffee shop that held my first art show while I was in my first year of college.

Syringe Paintings

Octopus

The Octopus was something I designed in first year at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, including fashion design, hand based clay modeling and latex casting.
